It’s past 6 PM and the view of the parking lot was just as stale for Jane as it had been three hours ago. The studio apartment was cluttered with a cheap brown couch that had a broken pull-out bed, shaky desk for a computer, a cheap dining table with three mismatched chairs, and an acoustic guitar collecting dust. She hadn’t been outside all day, other than four times to smoke on the balcony, reading erotica.
The cabin of the mid-sized furniture moving truck was nearly uncomfortably chilly on that sweltering Evillian afternoon. The slow traffic moved at a reasonable pace. The passenger, Jane, had her black jeans crossed so she could prop up a technical book about computers, while the driver, Jakov, kept one eye on the road while maintaining eye contact with the other eye.
“That reminds me of this awesome idea I have for the videogame.”
What captivates us about stories of heroes and villains? Do we enjoy seeing competent players battle, with the winner usually being one closely matching our morals and ideals? How much influence do we allow these fictional and realistic heroes to play in our lives? In “The Story,” does Rogue influence Trishna (left)? Does Deadpool influence John (right)? Would they even appear, in passing, as copyright-obscured characters? Or would their world value different sorts of heroes?

“Oh, cool! You have Whole Blood! May I?” With a nod, she looked over the album and continued. “I haven’t been able to find physical copies of any B-Bags CDs! I resorted to buying their discography digitally.”
“Yeah, I lucked out and got it from the thrift store. I’m not sure why they haven’t remastered any B-Bags albums yet in a nice set. Maybe they wanted to move on after reforming as the Ketchup Packets?”
Slightly mixing up the format of this week’s update to “The Story.” My spontaneous 500-word short stories are unplanned story jams. My 6,000-word short story contribution to the Keyboard Kommander Story Mode is more planned out. These and more are practice for my 500,000+ word plans with “The Story,” primarily featuring Trishna (left) and John. They’re human characters, with personality flaws, so let’s cover some of their blemishes. Here’s the mix: in potentially their own words?!
