[The Story] Evaluating Escapist Exercises

I don’t know how much of the introduction to “The Story” will start before John [left] and Trishna [right] meet. It’s an important period, to be sure, rife with rudimentary situations where they both have to learn to tolerate reality. As much as they may want to hide from their situations, bullies, and presents, their adolescences, like our own, is where we form our abilities to evaluate when to fight, flight, or delight in escapism.

[Sober Living] Thrifting As Therapy

“What did that [overhead announcement] mean? It sounded cool!” “It meant [basically] in 30 minutes, all hands on deck[1,2].” Coming up on 5 years ago, I was just bumming around in life, and ended up working at a thrift store for the hell of it. While looking for new junk is my primary reason for going, I also like going to remind myself of the times I hopped into gnarly trailers full of donations to salvage rarities.

[Career Story] Words Mean Nothing I

Words mean nothing, which is funny coming from an individual that wants to be a professional writer. The problem with words is that people hide behind them. Instead of taking direct action, people instead hide behind implication and strict definitions. I’ve noticed the biggest factor determining whether someone will succeed or fail in their professional career depends not on what that person says, rather, what that person does. [Grime/Glitter] Pay It Forward

Lost my keys taking this photo. I went about my day, unknowing that they had even disappeared into the ether, only to return to worry. Searched through everything. Everywhere. Imagined my route mentally. Retraced my steps physically. I resigned my efforts after that exhaustive search until the call arrived! If I hadn’t taken this photo, I wouldn’t have went through all of the worry. Was it worth it?
