[Concert Reviews] 1st Fall 2017 Review Compilation

This review compilation format is working out better than I thought! Considering the sheer volume of photos I take at concerts (366 photos, totalling 1.02GB), it’s easy just to upload my favorite photos from each band to TwitterInstagram has a terrible, mobile-only upload format, so I infrequently post there. It’s just too bad I took too many gambles on shows with only a few actually being worth attending. Guess you gotta give everything a go…

Beck at Marymoor

Alex Edelman [@]
Terrible comedian. Wheelchair joke didn’t land. The audience barely laughed.

Wasted time. Poorly mixed bass, except near the sound booth.

The ‘Verb [@]
Fun surf rock hindered by cluttered song structures and melodies.
Bias: No preconceived notions

Fun uptempo country band. Played late; I’d see them again.

Out at Market

Larry & His Flask [@]
Style over substance. Quit trying to showing off. Just perform!

Mechanical, boring performance without any motivation or energy. No showmanship.

Comparing recent openers, they have potential. Energetic and engaging enough.

Good with solid stage presence. Catchy melodies, just nothing memorable.
Bias: No preconceived notions

Lacuna Coil [@]
Excellent performance, even if they’re not really progressive rock anymore.

Still a fun punk rock set apart with solid musicianship.

Fun ska punk. Launching balloons, blowing toilet paper, were exciting.

Bad Religion [@]
Fun pop punk. Entertaining melodies justify hype; could use variety.
Bias: DigSorrow” [‘Taxi]

NOFX [@]
Sloppy fun punk. Endured amp problems for a rad show.
Bias: Dug once before
Rating: ★★★★☆ [4/5]

Pre-show Market shot

Hidden preview: I’ll build out this review compilation format for other things, first, whittling away at my videogame backlog. I’ll play 30 minute chunks of games then tweet micro-reviews of my thoughts.

My big goal is to write. My important goal is to write "The Story." My proudest moment is the most recent time I overcame a fear, which should have been today.
